Colonel Ann Wright resigned from the U.S. Foreign Service on March 19, 2003, while serving as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Mongolia. She resigned due to her disagreement with the Bush administration’s decision to go to war in Iraq without the authorization of the UN Security Council, the lack of effort in resolving the Israel-Palestinian situation, the lack of policy on North Korea and unnecessary curtailment of civil liberties in the United States. A dinner show on Saturday, October 20, will feature singing CIA Agent George Shrub and satirist Dave Lippman. Lippman will discuss his bad thoughts about Wal-Mart, and Shrub will focus on his bad thoughts about thought. Lippman is widely known for his sharp send-ups of topical subjects ranging from weapons of mass distraction to SUVs and the wars to defend them. He has toured widely in the United States, Europe, Australia, and Central America in a 35-year musical career.

The People of Sonoma County will march through Santa Rosa neighborhoods to protest the 9 deaths of people killed in the past year by local law enforcement. All people of the Bay Area are encouraged to unite at this march and rally TO STOP POLICE ABUSE OF POWER.
The march begins at in Southwest Community Park (Hearn & Burbank Aves; 5PM feeder march from Sebastopol Rd and West Ave), followed by a 6PM rally in Old Courthouse Square (4th St and Mendocino Ave). Boston, Chicago, Jonesborough, Tenn., Los Angeles, New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle
The U.S. occupation of Iraq has led to 4000 American deaths and roughly 30,000 injuries. Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have died and millions are homeless. Spending on the war thus far has been $457,984,243,792.
While most Americans oppose the war, there is no end in sight.
If we want the destruction and waste to stop, we have to take to the streets in protest in large numbers. This is the only way our elected officials will realize that their perpetuation of the war will end their political careers.
For this reason, a wide array of groups have come together to organize a series of major demonstrations this fall. One of these actions will be a protest and march in San Francisco on Saturday, October 27th. We'll start at the Civic Center at 11am and later march to Dolores Park.

Marin Peace and Justice Coalition and the First United Methodist Church of San Rafael presents their monthly free Town Forum & Potluck The presentation will include a showing of the new documentary film "Invasion of the Big Box Chains" with filmmaker Paul Francis in person. Ben Boyce, Staff Coordinator of the Living Wage Coalition of Sonoma County, will introduce the evening with a talk entitled "Community Impact Reports - Local vs Non-Local Economies." Come learn about the Target store proposed for construction next to Home Depot in San Rafael. The potluck starts at 6pm, and the talk at 7:15pm. This event will be held in the basement of the church which is wheelchair accessible. Please refrain from wearing scented products. .

Documentary on 2006 Popular Uprising in Oaxaca, Mexico

A Little Bit of So Much Truth captures the unprecedented phenomenon that emerged when thousands of schoolteachers, housewives, indigenous communities, health workers, and students took over 14 radio stations and one TV station, using them to organize, mobilize, and ultimately defend their grassroots struggle for social, cultural, and economic justice. Filmmaker Jill Freidberg returned to Oaxaca in 2006 and joined forces with Oaxacan media collective Mal de Ojo TV, to tell the story of the people who put their lives on the line to give a voice to their struggle.
